Raised in Bohemia, Czechoslovakia, by Prochaska, gardener to Count Althan, between 1850 and 1860, and introduced to England by Rivers before 1867. The attractive fruits have a crimson bloom over golden/green fruits, which are of good size. The medium firm, juicy flesh has a sweet and rich flavour. This gage has a free stone making it ideal for bottling and making jam.
NOT self-fertile, so will require a pollinating partner.
