There is little recorded about King George preferred name Edelborsdorfer.

Thought to be of German origin, either from Borsdorf in Meissen or near Leipzig. Recorded as early as the 1500s. Fruits have firm flesh with a sweet, flavour and an aroma reminiscent of elderflower.
