Enjoy four wonderful apple varieties growing together on one tree. Family apple trees are grafted with several different varieties, making them a great choice for smaller gardens where space may be limited, while still providing a selection of flavours and apples to enjoy.
Beauty of Kent
Introduced around 1820, this popular Victorian cooking apple is believed to have originated in Kent. The large, handsome apples have juicy, tangy flesh that cooks to a lemon coloured purée needing little sugar. Ready to pick in September and stores until January.
Lady Hopetown
A Sussex variety received by the National Fruit Trials in 1950 from W. Barnes of Bexhill-on-Sea. The greenish yellow apples have a crisp texture and a sharp, fruity flavour. Ready to pick in mid October, they can be stored to enjoy through the winter.
Red Transparent
An early heritage variety from Russia, producing medium sized apples with pale skin almost covered in red and a delicate bloom. The flesh is greenish white, and the fruits ripen in late July or early August.
Merton Knave
Raised in 1948 by M. B. Crane at the John Innes Institute, this English eating apple is a cross between Laxton’s Early Crimson and Epicure. The attractive red fruits have soft, juicy flesh with a sweet, pleasant flavour and are ready to pick in September.
