Enjoy four wonderful apple varieties growing together on one tree. Family apple trees are grafted with several different varieties, making them a great choice for smaller gardens where space may be limited, while still providing a selection of flavours and apples to enjoy.
White Transparent
An early heritage apple introduced from Russia or the Baltic States in the mid 1800s. The pale yellow apples have white, juicy flesh with a refreshing, sharp flavour. Suitable for cooking or eating fresh, they ripen from late July and are best enjoyed soon after picking.
Bloody Ploughman
A Scottish heritage apple recorded in 1883, with a fascinating legend behind its unusual name. The striking scarlet fruits have a distinctive ribbed shape and crisp, juicy flesh with a sweet flavour. A hardy eating apple, ready to pick in September.
Diamond Jubilee
A heritage apple raised in Rainham, Kent, around 1889. It produces very large, rounded fruits with firm, crisp flesh and a pleasantly sharp, subtly aromatic flavour. A versatile choice for eating fresh or cooking, ready to pick in mid October.
Merton Knave
Raised in 1948 by M. B. Crane at the John Innes Institute, this English eating apple is a cross between Laxton’s Early Crimson and Epicure. The attractive red fruits have soft, juicy flesh with a sweet, pleasant flavour and are ready to pick in September.
