An old favourite. The apples are interesting and distinctive. Smooth and green, large in size and ribbed. Keswick Codlin is a good cropper, with flesh that is sharp, juicy yet with a soft refreshing flavour. The tree fruits well in the North. According to Robert Hogg in The Fruit Manual the original tree was found growing behind a wall at Gleaston Castle near Ulverston, Lancs in a rubbish heap. Mr John Sander then introduced the Apple in about 1790 from his nursery in Keswick.
