Raised in about 1849 by a cottager called Jacob at Petworth, Sussex. Introduced in 1885 by G. Bunyard & Co., Maidstone, Kent. It received an Award of Merit from the RHS in 1884. Fruits have firm, juicy flesh which is nice and tangy, with good flavour.
