Prunus ‘Spire’ is an elegant ornamental flowering cherry, valued for its beautiful spring blossom, attractive foliage and neat, upright growth habit. Its relatively compact form makes it an excellent choice for gardens and spaces where a traditional spreading cherry tree may become too large.

In spring, the branches are covered with masses of delicate pale pink flowers, creating an impressive seasonal display. The fresh young foliage emerges with attractive bronze tones before maturing to green through the summer. In autumn, the leaves develop warm shades of orange and red, providing another burst of colour before they fall.

Naturally forming a narrow, upright crown when young, ‘Spire’ gradually develops into a graceful, slightly broader tree as it matures. Its manageable size and attractive shape make it particularly suitable for smaller gardens, avenues, driveways and landscaping schemes.

A hardy and reliable ornamental tree, Prunus ‘Spire’ grows well in most fertile, well-drained soils and performs best in a sunny position. Once established, it requires relatively little maintenance.

With beautiful spring blossom, attractive foliage and excellent autumn colour, ‘Spire’ provides interest across several seasons and is a superb choice where an elegant flowering cherry with a more upright habit is required.
